Improve the economics of how your business operates.

Operational performance improves when processes, technology and business priorities are redesigned together. Our Business Efficiency & Innovation programme identifies material opportunities, tests their economics and coordinates targeted implementation with defined measures of progress.

When the programme becomes relevant

  • Cost growth has outpaced revenue.
  • More headcount is needed to maintain existing output.
  • Operating processes rely on manual coordination.
  • Teams have tested AI tools without knowing which changes create meaningful economic value.
  • Leadership needs a defensible prioritisation of operational investments.

These are different symptoms of one underlying decision: where should the business direct its next operational improvement effort?

What the engagement covers

  1. 01

    Operating baseline

Define the selected process boundaries, existing costs, service levels and measurement quality. Work from available records rather than assumed efficiencies.

  2. 02

    Opportunity assessment

Identify avoidable work, unnecessary handovers, capacity limitations and technology-enabled changes. Compare internal process redesign, external solutions and selective development.

  3. 03

    Economic prioritisation

Assess estimated value, cost, delivery risks, dependencies and time to evidence. Make assumptions visible and test the most important uncertainties first.

  4. 04

    Implementation programme

Establish workstreams, supplier requirements, accountable owners and milestones. VerbumSap.Ventures may manage the agreed programme while client executives retain investment and operating authority.

  5. 05

    Outcome measurement

Compare results with the agreed baseline and document trade-offs such as quality, control and employee workload.

Deliverables

An operational opportunity map, prioritised initiative register, assumptions-based value model, implementation roadmap and agreed progress reporting. Where implementation is contracted, the engagement includes programme coordination and evidence of completed milestones.

Performance indicators

Unit operating cost, cost-to-serve, process throughput, productive capacity, gross or operating margin, cycle time and service quality. The final KPI set depends on the actual business process. No financial uplift is guaranteed.

Fit and prerequisites

Best suited to organisations with recurring processes, accessible baseline data, an accountable executive sponsor and the ability to assign internal process owners. Not suitable where the client expects performance improvements without approving change, supplying data or assigning resources.

Next step

An initial conversation can establish whether a focused assessment or a defined Business Efficiency & Innovation programme is appropriate.
